Każde dotknięcie zostawia ślad. Alina Szapocznikow [Each touch leaves a trace. Alina Szapocznikow] (49’), dir. Anna Zakrzewska, Joanna Turowicz, 2009.
Before the screening we kindly invite you to see the exhibition. The exhibition is open till 7pm on this day.
Trace is an impression story about Alina Szapocznikow’s work, made three years after the artist’s premature death. The director Helena Włodarczyk got Szapocznikow’s sculptures, from various stages of her career, out in the space of a big-city street. Figures made by Szapocznikow even in such surroundings seemed to be intensely corporeal. This experimental film enjoys today a cult status.
In the film portrait of Alina Szapocznikow Each touch leaves a trace the directors try to look under the veneer of the legend and bring Szapocznikow closer with her attitude to life, also the everyday life, to people, to history, and to art, of course. They managed to contact those who knew the artist well, famous Polish and French artists and culture people. Friends (e.g. Annette Messager, Wojciech Fangor i Andrzej Wajda) do not only recall the sculptress but also interpret in a very personal and emotional way her works and their numerous autobiographical references. After the screening there will be a discussion with the filmmakers. We will be talking about the heroine of the films – Alina Szapocznikow.
The event is organized as a part of a programme accompanying the exhibition
“Zbigniew Libera: It’s not my fault that this sculpture has rubbed againts me”.
Admission free.
