Artists’ Film Portraits: Jerzy Bereś
We invite for a film portrait of Jerzy Bereś on 16 February.
Alfabet Polskiego Performance [An ABC of Polish Performance] (34’), dir. Paweł Kamiński and Jan Świdziński
Spełnia się [It’s Coming True] (20’), dir. Gaweł Kownacki.
It’s Coming True is an allegorical portrait of Jerzy Bereś, a sculptor and performer, a member of a legendary Kraków Group, a great creative persona, an individualist and an “outsider” of a Polish art scene at the same time. This document of creational character consists of three interweaving plots: a narrative parable about a man in search of a suitable wood in a forest to make a wooden sculpture, reconstruction of Bereś’s demonstration from 1975 and fragments of the last interview with the artist done in December 2012. After the screening, we invite for a meeting with the filmmakers. They will talk about the main protagonist of the film: Jerzy Bereś.
Admission free.
The event is a part of a programme accompanying the exhibition “Zbigniew Libera: It’s not my fault that this sculpture rubbed againts me”.
